The Solar Sharer Offer gives 3 free hours of power in the middle of the day, up to 24 kWh a day. It started on 1 July 2026 and is opt-in.
NSW and South East Queensland
- Free window: 11am to 2pm
- Free window: 12pm to 3pm
- Same for everyone. The window is fixed all year, with no daylight saving shift. Use above 24 kWh is charged at the cheapest rate for other times of day.
- Who offers it. Retailers with more than 1,000 customers in these regions must offer it; some very small retailers are exempt. Ask yours.
- Who qualifies. You need a smart meter. Homes in embedded networks (some apartment blocks, caravan parks and retirement villages) are out, and so are controlled load appliances.
- Opt-in. Your retailer will not move you onto it automatically.
