Before you pay: finding the price after the promo

Check four things on the last screen before you pay.
  • Handset: what you owe if you leave early
  • Delivery: a router or SIM fee added at checkout
  • Minimum term: how long you must stay to keep the deal
  • After-promo price: the line that says what you pay when the promo ends
Where to find the after-promo price on an official page
  • Look near the price for "then", "after", "typical" or "ongoing"
  • Open the plan's fine print or the critical information summary link
  • Compare it with the price on the checkout screen
  • No after-promo price anywhere? Treat the promo price as temporary and ask the provider in writing
Example of why it matters
  • (Example) A promo at $60 a month for 6 months, then $85, is $870 over 12 months, 6 months at each price
  • (Example) A plan at $70 flat for 12 months is $840

The sum is in NBN promos: compare 12-month totals. Put your own bill into the NBN bill check, or read what to check before you switch.
